ChescoPlumDrop

What is the #ChescoPlumDrop?

Beginning in January 2013, Eco Incognito has partnered with the MOMS Club of Downingtown, PA to collect and recycle pouches of Plum Organics baby food. These popular food pouches cannot be recycled by conventional methods, so the collection is an effort to reduce waste and bring awareness to reusable storage methods.

How does it work?

Simply drop off empty Plum Organic food pouches in the boxes at our designated drop-off locations. Anyone can participate! When each box is full, we’ll tag it and send it to TerraCycle to be upcycled into a useful product. TerraCycle will credit the MOMS club with 2 cents per pouch. (www.terracycle.com)

Why are we having a recycling brigade?

A healthy diet is a key component to childhood and baby food pouches make it easy to deliver a healthy snack on-the-go. BUT, they are not recyclable. Plum Organics states that, “our pouch is still considered an industry wide eco-alternative because of its lightweight and size, all of which contributes to less breakage, food waste and lighter freight.” To lessen the environmental impact of the food pouches, TerraCycle has a system to repurpose the pouches into useful consumer products.

Can I drop off generic pouches?

No. At this time we can only collect Plum Organics food pouches, but we are hoping to expand the program in the future.

Can you recycle the cap?

Yes, you can include the caps. Please make sure the pouches are empty and try to wipe or rinse off any food spills.
